Eternals banned in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait after Disney refuses gay cuts – reports

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the $200m movie will not be released in the Gulf region countries after being removed from local sites. The studio has yet to comment or confirm but sources claim that the reason is a kiss between Brian Tyree Henry’s character and his on-screen husband, played by Haaz Sleiman. It marks the first gay kiss in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Homosexuality is still illegal across much of the region and is punishable by death in both Saudi Arabia and Qatar. A local cinema chain confirmed to the trade that the film was “banned” but had no explanation provided.

In Singapore, Eternals has become the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to gain an M18 certificate, which restricts audiences to those aged 18 and older. A spokesperson for the country’s Infocomm Media Development Authority confirmed that it was a result of “homosexual references”. The film also contains a sex scene between two heterosexual characters.

“She said there are many closet conservatives in Hollywood”

Many. You could say a lot. Robert Davi, who’s a bud of mine, wasn’t joking when he said most of the crews in Hollywood are rightwingers. It’s normal for MANY crew members to not re-new for the following year when they introduce a fag in the series. There’s even a certain AMC show I was involved in with a homo character and the editor of the series made a non-fag copy of each episode and gave it to people on our side.

Good for them. Pillow-biter scenes/themes are a non-starter for most sane people.

The male/male kissing scene was a character shattering experience. Here’s this eternal man who suddenly, after decades of character building as a man who had a platonic relationship with women and he shockingly breaks character to go tongue wrestling with a male of another species. There was no way to build that into the story or make it a plot driver. It was pinned on because, hey, diversity...or something. When story lines go woke, I click “off.”
