(AP) — The woman in charge of weapons on the movie set where actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins said Wednesday night that she had inspected the gun Baldwin shot but doesn’t know how a live bullet ended up inside.
“Who put those in there and why is the central question,” Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer for the movie “Rust” said in a statement issued by one of her lawyers, Jason Bowles of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“Hannah kept guns locked up, including throughout lunch on the day in question (Oct. 21), and she instructed her department to watch the cart containing the guns when she was pulled away for her other duties or on a lunch break.”
The statement goes on to say that “Hannah did everything in her power to ensure a safe set. She inspected the rounds that she loaded into the firearms that day. She always inspected the rounds.”
The statement adds that she inspected the rounds before handing the firearm to assistant director David Halls “by spinning the cylinder and showing him all of the rounds and then handing him the firearm.”
“No one could have anticipated or thought that someone would introduce live rounds into this set,” Gutierrez Reed’s statement said.
The statement also noted that “she did firearms training for the actors as well as Mr. Baldwin, she fought for more training days and she regularly emphasized to never point a firearm at a person.”
On Oct. 29, attorneys for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed said she doesn’t know where the live rounds found there came from and blamed producers for unsafe working conditions.

Any firearm is to be stored UNLOADED. You only load it at the time you intend to use it. And you would verify its condition directly before you handed it to the actor. Enough with the stupid press releases.
In other news rifling may have spun the bullet before it left the barrel
Last I knew, guns did not load themselves.
Dummy rounds, unless they have spent primers or rubber primers or are painted black, are hard to distinguish from real rounds. Blank rounds have crimped casings visible from the business end of the cylinder. Did she just show him the primer end of each round with the loading gate open? Did she show him the crimped bullet end of each cartridge loaded in the cylinder? Did she show him both ends of the rounds? The sentence describing what she did is too vague to mean anything.
The Props Dept only stores, provides, and collects the props.
It's the scrip supervisor who ensures that the right lamp is set correctly an a particular table.
A woman is dead, another injured, and EVERYONE responsible for it is trying to blame someone else. Honesty and integrity are apparently a thing of the past. They ALL owe it to her family to own up to their mistakes, and apologize profusely for being so irresponsible.
Well duh, ya stoopid inept little flake.
Bad armorer. Idiotic actor not checking the gun.
“We weren’t allowed to play with squirt guns because it violated that rule.”
Wow, really? That was strict!
I’m doing the fall cleanup now and finding Airsoft BBs all over the place in my yard from the neighbor’s kids. That really bugs me.
Alec is a personification of a classic Manic Depressive…period, no doubt!
The more this gets talked about, the less it adds up.
The original story was that Baldwin was rehearsing a scene, which could mean he was going over his lines or finding his marks, or both.
There would be no need for any rounds of any kind, let alone a real gun.
This story implies that the cylinder was meant to be loaded, but with dummy rounds. The only way to confirm that they were inert would be to remove all of them from the cylinder and inspect visually (there should be a hole in one side) and shaking them to hear the BB rattling around inside. Other than that, they would have looked identical to a live round.
Stranger by the day.
Looks more like a bum.
It's a fairly safe bet that everyone rubbing elbows with the Hollywood Elite on a movie set is Far Left or a Leftist Symp. So it is sweet when Socialist Leftists Sabotage one another.
[[and said he only saw 3 or 4 cartridges and never checked them all and that he should have]]
It appears that he at least may be taking responsibility, or partial responsibility, hope he doesn’t try to weasel, out of his statement later. He is correct, he should, have checked them all- each and everytime he was given a gun to checkch.ives delend on him dojng his job correctly EVERY time
Spinning the cylinder isn’t inspecting the rounds. That only tells you whether there are rounds in there. The most you can check is the primer to see if it is there and if it has been fired.
It would take specific premeditation to get the live round under the hammer for that shot.
I am guessing that the live round/rounds were planted to cause an incident at some time, but Alec’s ‘personality’ made things turn out a lot worse.
Did Alec Baldwin put the Bullet in there? Was he Screwing this married woman and afraid she was going to blow his cover and staged an accident to cover it all up.
My Very First thouht was this EXACTLY!!
It was supposedly a gate-loading revolver, so you can’t see much by just spinning the cylinder, especially a cursory glance during a quick spin. You could tell from the front end if the rounds were blanks, but you cannot easily distinguish a dummy round from a live round.
Depending on the type of dummy round, you could verify dummy rounds through the loading gate via used primers, rubber primers, or empty primer sockets. But that requires time and patience to inspect every round which, by all accounts, Baldwin did not allow on the set.
