UPSET ALERT: GOP truck driver Edward Durr, who spent $153 on his campaign, leads incumbent Dem State Senate President Steve Sweeney..
In what could be the BEST story of the 2021 election cycle, Republican Edward Durr — a Harley-riding, Eagles fan and truck driver — is on the verge of defeating his Dem opponent, 7-term incumbent State Senate President Steve Sweeney after reportedly spending only $153 on his campaign: https://www.nj.com/politics/2021/11/live-election-results-nj-senate-assembly-races-2021.html

Scroll down to Senate race between Sweeny and Durr-—99.37% reporting.
This is a great story (I mean REALLY great), but $153 is impossible. That would be gasoline for about 2,000 miles on a Harley and he wouldn’t have spend a single cent on anything else.
It’s a nice “everyman” story, but that $153 just doesn’t pass the smell test.
Sorry to quibble and nitpick.
Sweet...fancy...Moses.
He’s ahead by 1.0665 percentage points with only .63 percent of the vote left to be counted. Even the Dems can’t rig this one.
Ping.
~0.6% of the vote total can’t (absent the now-typical mystery boxes of cheat votes) make up 2k difference, yet it’s not called.
Similar 2am ‘votes’ in the governor’s race. Everyone on the planet knows what they do — will nobody intercept these?
I love this, the “High and Mighty” taken out by one of the “unwashed masses.” Everyone one of these assholes need to be booted and the Truck Driver will do a far better job for the people.
one precinct in Cumberland is the only one pending.
I know Steve Sweeney and have worked with him in the past in his capacity as Senate leader.
This couldn’t have happened to a better scumbag…
OK, I just checked the state government in NJ and found there are FORTY Senate districts. I never imagined there would be that many. NJ Senate 3 had 235,440 residents in 2010 (average NJ Senate district has 219,797 residents). So he probably could have done a lot of hands-on campaigning on his Harley.
But still, $153?
$153. $150 for the filing fee and $3 for the poster board to make a campaign sign his mom wanted. Lol
THAT’S AWESOME!!
“It’s a nice “everyman” story, but that $153 just doesn’t pass the smell test.”
Document is undated and some receipts may not have been entered.
But there is no doubt that he spent very little. Not even a website.
If he was hated so much that a name on the ballot with no advertising could beat him, then why didn’t the Republican Party go after him years ago?
“Not even a website.”
Wow, astonishing!
Ineptitude and defeatism, probably also treachery in the GOp operations there.
Looks like GOP would win if they stopped trying so hard to lose.
Even the Dems can’t rig this one.

Pshaw .... Hope you are right.
But the FraudFactory@DNC would say: “Hold my Chablis and watch this!”
As William F. Buckley famously said, “I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.”
I guess the same goes for the first 2,000 truck drivers we can find.
