Since Christianity is based on the same OT as the jewish faith, and believes in the same God, what’s the problem regarding marriage cerimonies?

Having a text in common does NOT make one a Jew. If both parties are not Jewish, it is not a valid Jewish marriage. Children from such a marriage, if the woman is the non-Jew, are NOT JEWISH. They cannot be enrolled in Jewish schools, go through Jewish ceremonies, etc.

My wife is Jewish, I’m not.

Our daughters are Jewish. You are what your Mother is.

We were considering moving to Israel in the early 90’s and the State of Israel was eager to help us plan and make the move.

The emissary said to us my daughters will find good Jewish boys, married and have lots of Jewish children.
He asked if that was ok because I’m not Jewish.
