A man who was dressed as Batman villain the Joker has been arrested by police for attempted murder after injuring 17 people in a knife rampage onboard a Tokyo commuter train.
Witnesses described how the 24-year-old attacker stabbed 10 people and poured what is believed to have been oil around the carriage before lighting it on fire, causing panic among passengers.
It was also reported hydrochloric acid was thrown during the attack, which occurred on the Keio express line bound for Shinjuku, the world's busiest rail station.

“but they just asked some question in broken english, they bowed, i bowed and that was it, phew.”
My bud has been teaching English at this gakuen’ (high school) as a part-timer. Same thing when the coppers mistake him. They teach English at the high school level but they forget it after graduation. So the cops are truly shocked when this blonde, white dude tells them in Japanese “Sorry but your English sucks. I speak Japanese fluently”.

The eggplant scene.
That was Aum Shinrikyo.

He needs training by the Chinese. They seem to rack up a kill ratio far beyond wounding when they go on a knife rampage.
Same was noticed over a century ago when the Maylays went Amok! They could rack up quite a lot of kills with a kris knife before they were put down.
It does happen from time to time and usually with knives or swords.
The Osaka school massacre was a mass murder that occurred at Ikeda Elementary School in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, Japan on 8 June 2001, in which Mamoru Takuma, a 37-year-old ex-convict with a history of mentally disturbed and anti-social behavior, stabbed eight students to death and seriously wounded fifteen others in a knife attack that lasted several minutes. Takuma was sentenced to death in August 2003 and executed in September 2004.

They don’t mess around over there.

I wonder if there’s a correlation between Japan’s lack of violence and their strict immigration policies?...
They do not indeed.
I think that one of those observations you're not supposed to make, or at least say out loud.
They allow very little immigration and only a few guest workers. They have a fair number of Filipinos who work in old folks homes. I'm no expert on Japan though. I just watch Japanese news pretty often and have heard about Japan from coworkers.
I believe their societal uniformity reduces violence in their culture and it is usually the mentally ill who create most of the violence. Unity is strength, not diversity.
“They allow very little immigration and only a few guest workers.”
A while back they had some problems with a few Iranians in Japan. They rounded every single one of them up and expelled them.

“I said I would rather live in Tokyo as a Foriegner than a US city and then this happens, still wouldn’t change my mind.”
This is news because it’s not normal there. In another 10 years or so, there will be another attack of this type and we’ll hear about it. Meanwhile in Chicago...
I know. It’s my way of saying something without actually saying it. That way I don’t get banned...again.
Now that you mention it, I remember hearing about that. You screw up and you're gone, no second chances. From my history of working with lots of Filipinos over the years, I understand why they like them as guest workers. For the most part they just want to get along and do their jobs. They also have a fair number of Vietnamese guest workers too I understand.
10 counts of attempted murder? One guy seriously injured. Japan does have the death penalty, and they don’t tell ha when they are going to execute you. Just take you out of jail and complete the sentence.
