Actor Alec Baldwin spoke publicly for the first time Saturday about the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed by a bullet fired from a prop gun fired by Baldwin on the set of the movie "Rust."
Tracked down by paparazzi on the side of a road in Vermont alongside his wife Hilaria, Baldwin said he couldn't comment on the investigation into the death, which occurred on Oct. 21 south of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
"I've been ordered by the sheriff's department in Santa Fe (not to comment on the case).... It's an active investigation in terms of a woman died, she was my friend," Baldwin said. "...We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together, and then this horrible event happened."
Baldwin, appearing annoyed at times when his wife interrupted to chastise reporters, confirmed that he had met with Hutchins' husband Matthew and the couple's 9-year-old son, adding that the husband was "overwhelmed with grief."
"There are incidental accidents on film sets from time to time, but nothing like this," he continued "This is a one in a trillion episode. It's a one in a trillion event.... We're eagerly awaiting for the sheriff's department to tell us what their investigation has yielded."
Asked if he would ever work on a film set again that involved the use of real firearms, Baldwin said he wouldn't know how to answer that question, but added that he is "extremely interested" in "limiting" the use of firearms on movie sets.
Baldwin added that he doubted production would start up again on "Rust."

Considering the penny pinching on safety, the reports of using the gun for target shooting and the absolute disregard of common sense gun etiquette by Baldwin I’d say the odds were more like 99 to 1 of what happened happening.
Every defense attorney in L.A. would tell their clients to STFU. And this puke is talking. What kind of lawyer he has must be a bigger idiot than this murderer..
It was NO ACCIDENT. It was the outcome of safety procedures being dispensed of an an actor that didn't bother to double check that the weapon was safe prior to use.
The only victim here is Halyna and secondarily the director. Sad!!
And the reporter just happined to find him on the side of the road...
No Alec....If you point a gun at someone and pull the trigger with a bullet in the chamber and you never checked first...it’s one out of one.
What’s wrong with his right arm, being held rigidly in place the entire time? He gestured a lot with his left arm but the right arm.never moved.
He pointed a gun at the cinematographer and director and pulled the trigger. You don’t even do that with a child’s toy gun. He needs to go to prison for negligent homicide, period.
Let's remember, Rust is about an accidental shooting and Alec co-wrote it.

This interview is pretty bizarre. It’s kind of like he’s playing a part- it’s just off, somehow. And dear god his WIFE- she’s unbalanced and apparently desperate to be in on the action. Any thought I had that he must be in his own private hell was dispelled in this interview.
He’s hiding something in his jacket...a bottle, maybe a gun.

I’ve been a an NRA certified pistol instructor since 2009. Can someone explain what a “prop” gun is.
I guess he is just a big an idiot with mathematics as he is with everything else. One in a trillion? Guess what, if you know even the most basic things about guns, it is zero in a trillion.
I always practiced safe gun handling and never shot anybody close to me. I never pointed a gun at anyone I did not intend to shoot. Consequently, nobody is dead. All he had to do wwere two things. Number one was to insure it was unloaded. Number two was to not point it at anyone I did not intend to shoot. If he had done these, she would still be alive. Do I consider him responible? Absolutely!

There is just no doubt he was questioned in the way others were on the set.
Baldwin has more responsibility as a Producer and the Shooter.

They don’t use the word greed like they do with Management of say, Gas Companies…
