The armorer who oversaw guns used in filming of Western movie “Rust” said producers allowed for an “unsafe” movie set and rejected her requests for training and other measures before actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed a cinematographer.
Attorneys for 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez issued the first statement on her behalf late on Thursday, a week after the fatal shooting by Baldwin of Halyna Hutchins on the “Rust” set outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Safety was the “number one priority” for Gutierrez, who had been hired as armorer and assistant prop master, according to the statement from attorneys Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence.

True, but Baldwin broke ALL the rules of gun safety, not just the first.
I still say the person who fired the weapon has ultimate responsibility.
I am curious the chain of custody here. This is all from news reports so who really knows? But some questions are why was it the assistant director who handed Baldwin the weapon and not the armorer? Was the armorer on set at the time? Who brought .44 caliber rounds to the movie set. Was this weapon used for “plinking” off set? Why? Who took them? Who fired them.
I can’t imagine that they would let some of the crew take the props, the costumes, the camera off the set for fun after hours. But somehow they were allowed to play with guns?
I’d like to hear what the crew members who walked off because of safety concerns have to say.

How can it be considered an accident? The gun was pointed. The trigger was pulled. That takes deliberate action. Even if no harm was intended any reasonable person would have known the risk of great harm was very probable by those actions.

These holiwood types must be as dumb as dirt if firearm safety ie: self preservation and care for others doesn’t float to the top of even the most sequestered life. Hell their own glory make believes shows what happens too. An armorer sheeeesh, spit. Common sense…. Never mind.
