Looking forward to it, C.S. Lewis is my favorite Christian author, he always gets me thinking and Max Mclean is my favorite reader of scripture. I like Max because his reading of scripture makes it come alive for me.

C. S. Lewis is also one of my favorite authors, especially his SciFi gem Space Trilogy. But I have seen some Freepers condemn him as a heretic. For what reasons I cannot fathom.

I have heard said that JRR Tolkien was instrumental in CS Lewis’s Christian development.

Max noted that Lewis realized that to even acknowledge pain as a problem involved Christian insight: “Christianity creates rather than solves the problem of pain. For pain would be no problem unless side by side with our daily experience of a painful world, we have good assurance that ultimate reality is righteous and loving. And that’s what belief in God gives us. It gives us purpose and meaning as opposed to a world that is capricious, unrighteous, and unloving.”

If God didn't exist, I would have to create him just to get up every morning and slog my way through this life with my artificially created hope. But God does exist, and for that blessing of hope I am eternally grateful. Yes of course there is pain and suffering, unfairness and evil common throughout the world. I don't understand how people blame God for that. I blame man. What God promises us through his only Son Jesus Christ, is a beautiful relief from all this sorrow and pain in the next life. That hope through faith in Christ my Savior, is what keeps me going.

Most of C.S. Lewis’ books can be downloaded for free from Project Gutenberg Canada.

Search for “Lewis” on the page.
