half of Earth is cooling faster than the other, researchers have discovered.
The side of the planet which contains the Pacific Ocean is losing heat at a more rapid rate than the half which contains Africa, Europe and Asia.
Scientists believe the discrepancy is because the Pacific hemisphere has been covered with more ocean than the other half for the last 400 million years and land is a better insulator than water.
Earth is continuously cooling and will eventually become a frigid, lifeless rock, much like Mars.

The side not facing the sun?
Maybe we can spin the Earth around?
Na that would violate Science.
“...the Sun regulates the temperature.”
__________
If we are talking change in climate, it indirectly regulates albedo, which in turn regulates temperature.
The half that faces away from the sun? Hey, man, don’t worry. The sun will rise in the morning.
LOL !
In Search Of... The Coming Ice Age
That simply isn’t possible.
Air circulates, water circulates globally.
Water cannot rise in one area and not all areas on earth.
The temp is regulated by the sun.
I think the articlec laimsthat the ocean doesn’t retain heat the same way the earth’s surface does. Actually Mars is a good bench mark for CO2 caused green house effects. Mars has 10 times the amount of CO2 as we have on earth, and just about the same dry surface area.. The atmosphere is 95% CO2 and yet there is no discernible green house effect.
Contrary to the article’s point, the oceans and moisture in clouds and in the atmosphere (1%) on average, are the main reason the earth has modulated temperatures.
We are safe because of our water.
“If we are talking change in climate, it indirectly regulates albedo, which in turn regulates temperature.”
Absolutely right on the money. In the graph I posted above it shows Solar Isolation dropping about 8,000 years ago. There is a delayed effect of this drop because of thermal mass storing heat like a battery.
Solar Insolation and Albedo are directly related in cause and effect.
Insolation effects:
“The intensity of albedo temperature effects depends on the amount of albedo and the level of local insolation (solar irradiance); high albedo areas in the Arctic and Antarctic regions are cold due to low insolation, whereas areas such as the Sahara Desert, which also have a relatively high albedo, will be hotter due to high insolation. Tropical and sub-tropical rainforest areas have low albedo, and are much hotter than their temperate forest counterparts, which have lower insolation. Because insolation plays such a big role in the heating and cooling effects of albedo, high insolation areas like the tropics will tend to show a more pronounced fluctuation in local temperature when local albedo changes.[citation needed]
Arctic regions notably release more heat back into space than what they absorb, effectively cooling the Earth. This has been a concern since arctic ice and snow has been melting at higher rates due to higher temperatures, creating regions in the arctic that are notably darker (being water or ground which is darker color) and reflects less heat back into space. This feedback loop results in a reduced albedo effect.”

Not according to the climate change nut job on NBC news last night. He was explaining how the warming oceans are causing so much havoc like monster storm in Cali and east coast. BTW, this activity has been going on for millinea.
Funny how no one has talked about zero hurricanes hitting the east coast this year? Nor’easters don’t count.
MSN sucks.
“The Earth is continuously cooling”
Global Warming = Climate Change = Global Cooling
Doesn’t that mean that
Global Warming = Global Cooling ?
Furthermore, warming = cooling.
This reminds me of the High School rape case in Loudoun County, VA, where a girl with a vagina was raped by a girl with a penis.
Liberals have clearly lost their hold on reality.
Sounds like we need to warm the planet a bit. Say.......
They spent millions reaching this conclusion. I would have told them this for free.
Yes, Water in oceans is more of a buffer that moderates temperature fluctuations. It tends to stay at more stable temperatures while land masses heat and cool cyclically with sunlight exposure.
Live in San Diego then move to Yuma and you'll see.
So the Earth is racist?
there is a reason we are on the third rock from the sun
The lack of freshmen level reading comprehension skills in America is absolutely reprehensible.
This article should anyone actgal read and understand the contents is about the heat loss rate from the earth’s mantle and interior which also includes the outer and inner core. This is not in any way shape or form about surface temperatures or atmospheric heating or cooling. The paper is correct the continent’s being 60+ km thick are a better insulator than ocean crust at 6km or less thick with a few thousand meters at most of water.
Over Geological time as in hundreds of millions of years the earth will eventually cool to be a solid cold mass when the outer core cools enough to be solid it will no longer produce the earth magnetic field which also forms our magnetosphere. That magnetosphere is the only reason earth has a thick atmosphere that has not been stripped away by solar wind like Mars was millions of years ago. One our magnetosphere collapses it is only a matter of time before the sun strippes away our atmosphere and the earth then becomes a lifeless rock, the oceans will be stripped away as well. Mars once had oceans they were lost to space over millions of years earth has more mass so our planet took longer to cool.
” actgal “
Spelling not all that great either !
“Yeah. The Northern Hemisphere starts to get cold this time of year and the Southern Hemisphere gets warmer. I guess they don’t teach science any longer.”
I guess you were never taught to read the article before commenting on the contents ...
“I think water is actually a better insulator than land.”
Where did you get that absurd idea!
Stay away from bodies of water this winter ...
