Former Arkansas sheriff's deputy charged with manslaughter in teen's death

A former Arkansas sheriff's deputy was charged Friday with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a White teenager whose death has drawn the attention of national civil rights activists. A special prosecutor announced the felony charge against Michael Davis, a former sergeant with the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office, in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Hunter Brittain.

This is a follow up to the police shooting of a 17 year old back in June. He was a totally innocent kid killed by the police. For some reason that I can't imagine his death really didn't rate much media attention. The deputy who killed him was fired and now arrested. As an aside, notice the "White" in the story is capitalized. I wonder if that was a mistake.

Al Shapton and Ben Crump were both present at memorial services for the teen.

Police Officers need to stop the shoot first mentality.   If they are too sacred to do their job, find a new one.   What person in their right mind would think, when he pull over a truck for smoke pouring out of the exhaust, the driver was setting him up to kill him?   Use your brain fool!

They were there for a Black man that was found dead around the same time.

Yeah, I saw that. I’m ignoring it. The only reason I can see the family letting them get involved is money, and I don’t want to think like that.
