When I was a kid in rural Mississippi, my grandfather kept flour in a pull-out bin in the kitchen that held about 25 pounds.
There were weevils in it.

We had a pantry with two walls of built in bins....cupboards and drawers. It was great for mom as back then you cooked all your meals at home. She raised 4 kids alone after my dad died from war wounds. Also worked. All four of us we’re well rounded as adults....even though we were considered poor as kids we never knew it. Mom could stretch a nickel way beyond the norm.
