Texas governor tells UN to go 'pound sand'

The United Nations tells Texas it must move to greenie energy to remain prosperous.

The United Nations, awash in greenie ideology, has decided that now would be a good time to horn in on the state of Texas's internal energy production. For its own good, of course:

NEW YORK — The leader of the United Nations says Texas must end its reliance on oil and gas production to remain prosperous in the era of climate change.

At a UN summit next month, world leaders will be asked to rapidly cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030. A vast increase in the production of renewable energy will be required to reach those targets.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres says Texas is well-positioned to lead the way in the production of renewables.

"If Texas wants to remain prosperous in 2050 or 2070, Texas will have to diversify its economy and Texas will have to be less dependent on oil and gas," Guterres said. "It has all the conditions to be — because of the weather in Texas — a leading state in renewable energy in the US," he added.

That prompted just the right response from Texas's no-nonsense governor, Greg Abbott:

Texas to United Nations: Pound Sand

The world is reeling from spiraling fuel costs caused by premature over-reliance on renewable energy.

High fuel costs punish middle class families & stoke the supply chain crisis.

Texas oil & gas is needed right now.

I guess the UN didn’t notice the Texans who froze to death last winter due to overreliance on green energy sources that failed. Inconvenient.

I bet there will be a blizzard in Scotland during the climate conference coming up. Gaia is a b*tch.

We’ve been in the “era of climate change “ since the 60’s. Back then we were trying to stop the impending ice age.

Texas has been a source of hope lately with constitutional carry, the heartbeat bill, etc.

Trump won Texas by less than 7% in 2020, a couple % closer than 2016. Is Texas drifting left or is all this “Texas is going to flip!” talk just chicken littles? I know a lot of people from out-of-state have been flocking to Texas for the job market but at least some of them have to be conservative. How active and serious is the state GOP on holding ground?

If only we hadn’t given up so quickly on perfecting perpetual motion machines.

Texas has 29 million people. California, the “good” state. has 39.5 million people. Texas provides 26% of the nation’s wind energy. The “good” state provides 3% of the nation’s wind energy.

The UN also forgot about the brand new, super modern, hi tech Tesla giga factory that is just about to open in Austin, Texas.
Texas actually gets it done. The UN just keeps talking nonsense while getting nothing done.

Aren’t we all gonna be dead in 10 or 12 years?

Why do they care about 2050 or 2070?

The left is importing “refugees” into Texas by the 100 thousands right now. The plan seems to be to overwhelm the population with new dem voters, the way they did in California. And the way Obama did Minneapolis, flooded it with Somalis and of course they elected one of their own to Congress.

The border crisis is on purpose. I really doubt that Americans want to live in the United States of California

Texas will probably go blue due to the massive influx of ILLEGALS who will eventually get to vote. Most of them are already on welfare, free medical care, free housing, free schooling, and can't speak English. They are laughing at us.
