The “on-set medic” had to wait for the EMTs to arrive? She wasn’t even a certified EMT herself? Did she have ANY qualifications to be hired as a “medic”?
Most nurses may start out in an ER but don't stay there due to the stress involved. And relatively few EMTs become full time nurses.
At the higher levels, nursing is more about following paperwork than saving lives - thankfully there are many exceptions.
Most of us know that in the hospital we listen to our doctors but obey our nurses.
They need to be transported to a trauma center for surgery.
A Paramedic or, I guess a nurse could administer IV blood and pain meds, if available, under direction of Medical Command.
The set medic did not have an ambulance, the supplies on an ambulance or a partner.
Of course she’s going to call 911, and request Medevac as well. She’s not a trauma surgeon in a trauma bay.
