A restaurant in a near by city was closed down being an "attracting of public nuisance" because someone outside fired a gun that broke a window in the cafe. No one was injured and no one was ever charged and nothing was ever even suggested as to why the cafe was a magical bullet attractor but the city pulled their business license.
It was a really good spot near a popular event arena and people assumed it was because someone wanted her property.
If so, they miscalculated. Because she fought city hall and won. It took four years but the city must pay damages, give her back her license and Rita's will be reopening again in a couple months.
So personally I am suspicious of any business being shut down by city hall.
Maybe it is legitimate.
And maybe not.
She better be wary of the Health Department Inspectors and the Police Department. You can make book that the City Fathers have told the Police Chief and Health Department to get something on her to close her down again. City Hall does not like to lose. Even when it is justified.
Was this in Saginaw? I seem to recall hearing something about it but as I am near Howell my “local” news is Detroit or Lansing.
