a blank firing weapon has to have an operable barrel or it will explode. all are referred to as props. fakes can be used in non use situations carrying, throwing or dropping but not in close ups.

Yep, everything seen on a movie set is considered a prop, whether it's real and functional or something made out of foam. The real items used in iconic movies end up becoming collectibles, even things like a lamp or chair or piece of clothing. Cars too. John Schneider's got a 69 Charger from Dukes of Hazzard but it's a non functioning prop. No engine iirc.
