The smoking gun that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins might've been more than just an on-set prop -- it was also being fired recreationally, even when cameras weren't rolling.
Multiple sources directly connected to the 'Rust' production tell TMZ ... the same gun Alec Baldwin accidentally fired -- hitting the DP and director -- was being used by crews members off set as well, for what we're told amounted to target practice.
We're told this off-the-clock shooting -- which was allegedly happening away from the movie lot -- was being done with real bullets

“Try to imagine the scenario where someone shoots and kills a person, claims it was an accident and does not get arrested immediately.”
Happens all the time.
The bimbo armorer turned the whole set into a Russian roulette game and Alec Baldwin couldn’t be bothered to check his gun, and probably didn’t even know how.
A “prop” gun is any gun used on set, most of them are real and blanks are used, especially in westerns. They want the smoke and noise. A low budget film can’t afford to CGI that in.
Replica guns exist and they have filled barrels.
Nope. Several people quit due to this production being unusually dangerous, including previous misfires. There is plenty of fodder for lawsuits, and possibly even a manslaughter charge.

I said range master. That was some kind of tactical hut-hut trainer. I mean the guy who administers the department firing range.
Hollywood favors those and Walkers...big.
I don’t think it was a Dragoon. The article just says vintage Colt and showed a photo of a Dragoon with the caveat that they don’t know the exact model.
But two points; One, if it’s life or death stakes, you have to follow the rules.
And second, if you want to shoot a Dragoon, spend about 400 bucks and do it all you please.
I mean really, wouldn’t it had better if the lady was pointing it at Alec for a demonstration?
found myself watching snl for the first time in YEARS tonight and the 1st hour at least was quite GOOD.

This tragedy involved multiple people committing incredibly stupid mistakes. It will take awhile to find all the idiots involved.
What a stupid title. The gun didn’t kill the lady, Baldwin did.
Alec Baldwin, on the movie set, with a gun! There I solved it!
Those being trained had "prop" guns, but he had his service pistol and used it.
The training was for Active Shooter in a school and they were in a high school that was closed for Christmas Break when he killed Joey Cushman.
Not only that, the damages are likely to exceed the policy limits. So even if Baldwin wins on the coverage question, his personal finances will be at risk.
“But if people were using the gun without the knowledge of the people in charge, that gun may not have been in the condition that the principals thought it was in.”
That is true but the gun “expert” is supposed to do the check right before handing the gun to the actor/actress - Pick up the weapon, check, hand to actor/actress, roll film, immediately take custody of the weapon once more.
(Assuming you're not being facetious ;^)) No. The term “round” in this context is slang used to refer to the bullet or projectile or sometimes the entire loaded cartridge; such as, “firing a round downrange”
I think the crew hated Baldwin and are happily spilling their guts to destroy him. Good.
