I lived in Palm Bay just a few years ago and couldn’t imagine this happening in Brevard County.
There are probably some people who should not be in a public school at all.

Yes they are special- the very first time I actually met a Down’s Syndrome kid, he came up to and introduced himself and said “ Hi, my name is Dave” and he shook my hand. The look on his face was pure sunshine. His smile was like the Cheshire Cat.I’ve never forgotten that.

At the place where I worked, the director was very involve in getting them dressed like normal kids so they wouldn’t look strange. Also teaching them things like art and music and manners.. Many Hollywood people supported us, some with Down’s kids of their own., A million years ago, but as I recall, Sammy Davis Jr’s wife was one of our supporters. I moved on to be advertising and publicity manager for a CA bank with branches all over the state. Far more $$ but not as satisfying.

Thanks for the link. My main issue then is with the ‘twitter poster’ calling a thin cord, a rope....
And not to excuse the evil people at that school who did this, even a downs syndrome child should be able to undo that silly cord and remove the mask in about 30 seconds if she actually chose to do so.
That she didn’t chose to do so is another indictment of those evil people at her school, making her so fearful to not even try to take it off once she was out of their direct observation..... Not only the ones who did it, but all the ones who knew about it and did nothing.
I’ll say it again: Sending ANY child, much less a special needs one to a public school these days is child abuse.
