So . . . “Southern Living” makes a new article (dated yesterday) from an old article by the Washington Compost back in June?

We went through White Horse in the winter at night and the bank across the street from the station was reading -57F on their sign.

Here in Phoenix there IS no train. I wish we had the train because I love train travel.
I’d love to do a train trip through beautiful country with a dining car experience like out of North by Northwest, watch the country go by.
I loved the subways in NYC.

I didn’t like dining cars because I don’t want to sit with other people.

Let’s Go Brandon is the current patron saint of Amtrak. If you follow the railroad industry press (yes, there is such a thing), you will find a level of political fellatio that will sicken you.

I had no problem with the food on the west coast routes other than the prices.

This is hilarious. The reason feeding people on these trains was stopped was because the cost of doing business far outweighed any return. Food service was totally subsidized.
A number of reports from a few years back showed Amtrak loses about $80 million a year in serving food & beverages.
Some politician palm greaser must be getting rich.

TCM shows "The Harvey Girls" from time to time. Worth seeing. Judy Garland, Virginia O'Brien, Angela Lansbury. Great fun.

Not sure about their vaccination policy, but when I traveled on Amtrak pre-pandemic there was definitely more than cheeseburgers and fries available. The Coast Starlight (west coast route) even organized wine and cheese tastings using wines from the areas we were traveling through.
To: mylife
The food on Amtrak used to be quite good.
