I saw it. It beats the hell out of the original Dune movie. They actually put some money into it. The special effects are modern and up to date, and realistic looking.

The casting is good, except for they made Liet-Kynes a black woman. WTF?

The acting was good. They followed the book well. Its only part one and ends with Paul and Jessica arriving at Stilgar's sietch. No telling when part 2 is due. Blah.

Don't spend money at the theater. Watch it in the comfort of your own home on your flat screen with theater sound, like I did. HBOMax.

Dune fans will love it.

Thanks for letting us know this is only Part 1.

That is miserable when they do that....I will wait until after Part 2 is out—and then watch both.

Some of these sagas can be real tomes. Dune, Lord of the Rings, etc. Covering them in one movie draws lots of complaints of being overwhelming. That was a large complaint of the first Dune. As it was on the cusp of the computer generated special effects age, its ‘trick photography’ seems marginal and campy, by today’s standards. Same with the acting. They did the best they could.

My son and I watched it last night. 2 thumbs up. Compared to most the crap they put out today it was epic. Much better then the original dune movie and they did keep close to the book.

That’s good to hear. I was really ticked after watching the original movie. We had been anxiously awaiting it’s release for a year, and it was a flop.
