Alec Baldwin 'Rust' camera crew walked off the set in protest before the fatal shooting [Baldwin's stunt-double accidentally fired two rounds Saturday after being told that the gun was "cold"]

They said at least one of the camera operators complained last weekend to production managers about gun safety on the set.

Three crew members who were present at the Bonanza Creek Ranch set that day said they were particularly concerned about two accidental prop gun discharges on Saturday.

Baldwin's stunt-double accidentally fired two rounds Saturday after being told that the gun was "cold" — lingo for a weapon that doesn't have any ammunition, including blanks, one of crew members who witnessed the episode told the Los Angeles Times.

"There should have been an investigation into what happened," said the crew member. "There were no safety meetings. There was no assurance that it wouldn't happen again. All they wanted to do was rush, rush, rush."

A colleague was so alarmed by the prop gun misfires he sent a text message to the unit production manager. "We've now had 3 accidental discharges. This is super unsafe," according to a copy of the message reviewed by the Times.

If Baldwin was the producer and on set there is no way he didn’t know about the earlier walk out—and reason for it.

A hot temper and deadly arrogance ... that’s hollyeird’s Arex. The arrogant bastard should spend the rest of his miserable life in prison. Sadly that will not bring this mother back to raise her little boy. Baldwin has prven himself to be a deadly menace ... just the type of ‘hero’ the leftist hollywood loves to adore.

The episode is an indictment of Hollywood, at the heart of it.

From what I’ve heard a repro of a Colt 1848 “Dragoon”.

Hard to say. The production manager may have kept it from him. His stunt double could have said something to Baldwin himself. More info will dribble out as time goes on.

“Why all this live ammunition? Seems like someone wanted something bad to happen.“

Yes. This is Hollywood - where everything is MAKE-BELIEVE..

You do NOT use “prop” guns that are capable of killing someone. In this day and age, you can use a cap gun and then insert a real “bang” noise later.

There is NO excuse for this whatsoever. …Unless someone had plans..

I’m guessing because low budget movies can’t afford to spend enough to make their cgi look as good as the props and practical effects that have always been used in the past. I know I’ve seen lower budget movies that try to get away with crappy cgi for the gun fights, it looks super cheesy. Sometimes even big budget cgi gun fights look bad in my opinion.

“There’s a lot more to a gun firing than just the sound. Good grief! The flash, the smoke in this case and the recoil.“

Yes, but flash, smoke and recoil can ALSO be done with a fake gun; you do NOT use anything that is capable of injuring someone - for a pretend movie.

As a kid, I had a dime store gun that fired the little plastic “caps” individually.. got a flash, got smoke, got recoil and got a big BANG too.
The worst it could do to a human was make your ears ring for a while.

There’s NO excuse to use a “prop” firearm that can really hurt someone.. especially after all the prior incidents where actors have been killed by them.

What exact model of handgun was being used?

Not EXACTLY sure so I'll shut up.

“From what I’ve heard a repro of a Colt 1848 “Dragoon”.”

That’s the rumor I’m hearing, the Guardian posted a pic of what they claim the weapon to be. It was a cap and ball Colt.
If true then all the comments about blanks and live ammo get’s thrown out the door. Best bet is to wait until the SO completes the investigation.

I should have specified "Criminal Punishment" as that was my intent.

Pretty sure you are correct regarding torts.

That sounds like Baldwin. I think he meant it about being pissed about another shoot. That said he was just acting out in his abrasive arrogant style. I despise him, but I don’t think he probably wanted to hurt or kill anyone.

He is culpable for something in this mess though.

Not if it was one of the stated complaints from those walking out. Just not believable.

That would definitely expose the incompetence. A union thug can leave a loaded weapon, but the next handler would then check and make sure it was cold.

“Baldwin’s stunt-double accidentally fired two rounds Saturday after being told that the gun was “cold” — lingo for a weapon that doesn’t have any ammunition, including blanks,...”

How does that happen with a handgun typical of the times?

There were a few semi autos toward the end of the century, and I can see reflexively pulling the trigger again, but I don’t think there were that many and I haven’t seen any in movies set before the early 1900’s.

There were a few double action revolvers, but I think it unlikely reflex would cause a second pull of the trigger.

With a single action revolver one has to pull back the trigger for each shot and why would you do that if you’d just fired a shot from a gun that was supposed to be unloaded?

Well, a .44 round made its way onto the set and into a gun fired by Baldwin. How did that happen? is a legitimate question and you offer a possible answer. Not saying its the correct answer, but it’s a possibility. We’ll probably never know the truth, but I know this: The current media narrative stinks to high heaven.
