That doesn't sound possible. Especially with a single action revolver. But even with a semi-automatic it's not going to go off when you are just holding it in your hand.

The article says there was a .44 caliber bullet in the victim's spine. I wonder how they identify their blanks to prevent loading live ammunition. I've never loaded or fired a blank before.

The actor should have verified the barrel was clear as soon as they handed him the weapon.

I had originally read the story that way also, but on second read I realized that was referring to the on-set shooting of Brandon Lee.

Blanks are visibly different from a live round. The average person can spot the difference at a glance.
