A deadly shooting on the set of the Alec Baldwin film “Rust” in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, has resulted in a debate among legal minds about the possibility and likelihood of litigation — even as many of the facts of the matter remain shrouded as of the time of this writing.
It remains officially unclear how a prop gun — generally outfitted with blanks — was discharged by Baldwin on a movie set. The gunshot managed to kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injure director Joel Souza, 48. The accident happened at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a stereotypical western film set used frequently by production crews on the southern outskirts of Santa Fe.
...
However, the New York Post, citing Indie Wire, said that a union which represented prop masters learned that a “live round” was fired. The union said its members were not on set and that local “New Mexico crew members” were, according to the reports.

LOL, my wife watches the reruns on Hallmark. I did see Bruce on one. I’d forgotten that he used to be an “actor”.
Baldwin was in part responsible for hiring that person as one of the producers. And as I pointed out earlier, he’s handled firearms in movies enough to have learned basic safety techniques.
He bears a significant part of the responsibility for this event, as it appears right now.
Why would Baldwin even point a gun at anyone that wasn’t an actor?
_______________-
Baldwin is a stupid liberal that doesn’t know a thing about firearms. Regardless, someone needs to explain how a live round got in the gun on a movie set.
Any safety protocol can be voided by a Condescending, Arrogant, Self Important A$$hole.
Better ban ALL props just to be extra safe.
Union thugs have been known to do some nefarious things when “scabs” are used.
I’m betting Baldwin’s personal firearm and all this ”prop gun” is just made up. Keep in mind he is very bipolar.
I think Brandon Lee killed himself with a blank load.
Forthcoming bumper sticker:
Guns Don’t Kill People, Alec Baldwin Does!
a union which represented prop masters learned that a “live round” was fired.

I would distrust anything a union would say on the matter. Usually the first information the media reports is wrong.
mmichaels1970: "What if the CAMERA was the target?"
Firstly, does a camera fit the description: "Anyone"?
Secondly, it is perfectly safe to shoot a camera on a cleared range and backstop with the Director of Photography (and everyone else) viewing on a monitor in a safe area.
Thirdly, your Whataboutism didn't work.
If the cinematographer is behind the camera and the director is next to the camera directing and Baldwin is firing at the camera for that camera angle...it’s easy to see how they got shot.
The weapon was in his hands.
That makes it his responsibility.
Period.
L
Watch them go easy on him.
Actually, I agree with you, and if I Were King ...
He’s a big enough slime bucket that he might have sexually harassed or even threatened the lady and she had proof and was threatening to out him. Bring a weapon to work and shoot and problem disappears.
If it’s a real gun..as has now been reported.. Baldwin should have checked it out.
And if he was pointing a gun at,or towards someone in order to get a camera shot, there should not have been a live person behind the camera.
I am assuming part of the scene required him to squeeze the trigger.
Otherwise his finger should not have been on the trigger.
Had Baldwin humbled himself and taken an NRA firearm safety training, instead of trying to have them shut down, he might have had enough sense to check the firearm himself to ensure it was safe.
While early, it sounds like he just may have violated every safety measure in handling a firearm.
Instead of supporting shutting down the NRA, he showed the necessity of their training.
Dear MSN and the rest of you communist media heads, Stop calling this a “prop gun”. If it was a prop gun then it couldn’t have been used to kill someone, could it?
The left keeps telling us that firearms should be illegal because their only purpose is to kill. Now we all know that the left knows that guns are dangerous. With that danger comes responsibility. When someone picks up a firearm he, and no one else, becomes responsible for what happens next, no matter what it is. If it’s a semi-auto firearm then rack the slide/charger twice, and check what comes out. Inspect the chambers of all firearms. There should have been a chamber flag in this publicly-accessible pistol up until the instant of filming.
A person who doesn’t know how to make a firearm safe should not be allowed to handle one. That clearly applies to Alec Baldwin.
