You are correct. Just like SARS, MERS, and influenza, the corona virus is a RNA virus that mutates and has animal reservoirs, so a vaccine is nearly impossible and mRNA didn't work. A corona virus is what causes the common cold.

It's time to stop this madness and focus on better treatments for all viruses!
