Viewers tuning in to hear a weather report got a bit of a shock after a news channel accidentally aired porn for 13 seconds. KREM, a local CBS-affiliated news outlet based in Spokane, Washington aired the explicit footage on Sunday during their 6pm broadcast. A weather update was being given by meteorologist Michelle Boss when the pornographic footage suddenly appeared on the screen behind her right shoulder. For 13 seconds, the video of what appeared to be a woman’s backside was on screen. It’s not clear whether Boss or her co-anchor Cody Proctor were aware of the clip - but if they were, they certainly handled it like pros and didn’t even react to the unplanned video. Daniel Walters, a local reporter for Inlander, shared a blurred clip and described the incident as “very strange” and added that he “thought it might have been a hoax when I first saw it.” As a result of the incident, KREM later apologised during their 11pm broadcast, Adweek reported. “Those of us here at KREM 2 want to apologize for something that happened in our 6 p.m. newscast tonight,” the station said. “An inappropriate video aired in the first part of the show. We are diligently working to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

Why is it ALWAYS porn, and not an old Popeye cartoon or a cat video or Mr. Ed?
Not the first time it has happened and it won’t be the last.
Yeah, but 13 seconds?
Did they all go for coffee?
Years ago there was supposedly a weather program in Bozeman, Montana, in the winter. The cute weather girl cheerfully announced that Helena got ten inches last night.
That ended the newscast.
Considering the stations call letters, just showing a “backside” was probably fortunate: KREM.
I have known enough people on the technical side of TV broadcasting to have heard several stories of events like this in TV stations all across the country. There are all kinds of shenanigans in the control room.
Have to be careful of where the cameras are in the CBS coffee & drug room...
I doubt it was in the building. Probably a hacker’s job from outside.
Sadly, the odds are good that the material was in the building.
Stop the hammering.
What do want? It’s Spokane.
I remember FOX broadcasting a news report of some actress having a block party and it came out as a “blow job”.
It was even mentioned here on FR.
That ain’t nothing. Back in the 60’s a station in western MT ran a porno loop for 45 - 75 minutes. The kicker was no one complained till the show was over. The tech on duty was fired.
No. Everything you see on TV goes through a video switching system. Note that this “porn” was inset into another video image - that can only be done by digitally combining two signals in the switcher. Someone might have punched up the wrong feed for the insert, but the fact remains that the “porn video” was present at an input to the video switcher, which means it was from a computer in the station building or connected through an access port (such as the microwave system they might have for remote broadcasts. Regardless, the video control operator has the ability to preview every signal and should have seen what was on the channel before switching it onto the air.
That was a classic Shep Smith blooper.

Has Lazamataz taken up a job in broadcasting?
Bingo!
