DraftKings Inc. has announced a strategic sports book expansion and extended its existing daily sports betting partnership with MLB to now include expanded promotional rights and content exclusive of the sports betting category.

This baseball betting “partner” now generates the most important advertising revenue stream for MLB. Do they still have that anti gambler association placard in every clubhouse? Does Pete Rose’s lifetime ban extend to him betting with MLB’s official betting partner? Do they publish a line on whether that last blown call, dropped fly or gopher pitch was brought to you by MLB’s other betting partners? I am surely a stranger in a now strange land.

I haven't counted but there may be more sports betting adverts on tv here in Indiana than ambulance chasers.
That "make it rain" chick is everywhere.

A couple of weeks ago I had lunch with a guy high up in big media. He said the amount of money flowing into DraftKings and another group (I forget the name) is astounding. He said the outflows to the media/advertising is also astounding. They are trying to be the “Cokes and Pepsis” of the world. No holds barred.

If you watch the MLB playoffs you’ll see DraftKings dominates. They are running live odds, quoting payouts on exotic bets. It flies in face of everything baseball has stood for in my lifetime. It’s not like Rose putting $5000 on the Reds or $500 on Seaver. There are surely billions in this industry. $100 million in Bitcoin somewhere for a late season call up reliever to blow game seven? No, not baseball.

I don’t think I have seen any DraftKing advts on the games, but there have been wall to wall advts for Ceasers Sports Book. Although I had heard of Ceasers, I don’t think I had ever seen an advts for them before the post season.

Yes and the beauty of that is all the $$ we’ll save not having to drive a casino. It doesn’t seem like progress but you can gamble away your home from the comforts of home. They did get my nickel but they gave it to me.
