Getting fired from the federal public service is, in fact, a very difficult thing to do and unions have been known to fight dismissals or even disciplinary action for years over more serious issues than a funny, if offensive, email signature line.

I know that this specific story is about Canada. But things are not so different here. But I have been surprised at how easy it has been for Joe Biden to basically break the federal unions. Civil Service people are just being kicked out because they're not vaxxed. Like, suddenly it's the easiest thing in the world to fire these people. Weird.

Things have changed so rapidly, so much, that no one knows what to expect anymore.

Did you say something offensive ten years ago, or that someone mis-remembers? Did you visit a political website twelve years ago? Did you donate money to Trump 6 years ago? Did you post something critical of Obama or Hillary on FB a 13 years ago?

No one would be surprised if they or a co-worker was fired for that.
