A Texas nurse was convicted Tuesday of capital murder in the deaths of four patients who died after prosecutors say he injected them with air following heart surgeries.
Davis, 37, was accused of injecting air into the four patients’ arteries after they underwent heart surgery at the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler in 2017 and 2018. During recovery from their surgeries, the four...suffered unexplained neurological problems and died.
Defense attorney Phillip Hayes told the jury that the hospital had issues and that Davis was a scapegoat who was only charged because he was there when the deaths occurred.
Prosecutor Chris Gatewood said during closing arguments that Davis “liked to kill people.” And prosecutor Jacob Putman said the hospital hadn’t changed any of its procedures and hadn’t had any similar incidents since Davis left.

He’ll get a job at some FEMA Camp some of the less careful here may be going to in the near future.
Execution by same method as the murders
Usually a “calling” in..as in calling in sick. I am jesting....but I have spoken to many nurses who insist that calling in sick for a “mental health” day cuz they had a bad day previously is an irrefutable good and necessary thing.
Never mind it makes the hospital struggle to cover that area...sometimes they have to use registry or a poorly trained staff member..that can cause a lot of misundertandings and problems with normal routines and procedures.
Have several in my family in (also formerly) the nursing field, I will tell you with a CERTAINTY it’s a good, even valid idea to call in sick after having a”bad” day; the stress they feel can get let out onto the patients, and NOBODY wants that.
Once upon a time, we lived in a high trust society. Once upon a time, our societies were ours. Then they weren’t.
Care giver burn out is a real thing
Work with Dick cranky people twelve hours at a shot four of five days a week. Have ind of two of em go south on you…. A bad day??? To say the least
Lots of folks can learn the technical stuff and pass boards. They earned the RN after the name. Still doesn’t make them a nurse. Nurses are born. It is their calling. Their live purpose. When you run into one you will know it
well that’s about 5 mins from my home there.
yes they have a mosque with a school there in Tyler
The one thing I don’t like seeing is how the ill and dying are given morphine to “keep them comfortable “ when pain is not an issue.
Instead of only using benzos to diminish anxiety patients are snows on morphine to bring on or hasten death.
More than one person has told me that their parent went into the hospital for a minor procedure and was under heavy medication and dead within 24 hours.
Perhaps hospitals need to take responsibility about the hellholes they have become and the damage the inflict on staff instead of relying on staff being worried about staffing issues to force longer work weeks and workdays.
That is whatis done...keep them comfortable.
I've seen people die horribly...many times.
I cannot comment on things I've not seen....
I've seen enough...that you might not understand...or believe.
They get tired of doting over patients and figure if the kill them, there will be much less work!☺
It seems as if most of these cases involve male nurses.
Seen both. Still appalled that comfortable people are snowed.
