UK and Ukrainian scientists created the spirit, ATOMIK, to support communities affected by the 1986 nuclear disaster It uses apples from the Narodychi district, partly covered by the abandoned exclusion zone.
Viktor Feer, director of the Palinochka Distillery where it is made, said: “It is robust but smooth with clear hints of apple reminiscent of a beautiful Ukrainian autumn.”
Its makers insist the drink is no more radioactive than other spirits.
Prof Jim Smith, from the University of Portsmouth, said: “We believe the accident’s social and economic impacts are now a much bigger problem than the radiation."

I like the vepr on the label..
Bet this vodka will light you up too…
I heard that the Japanese plan on dumping the water from Fukushima plant that has been filling up over the past 10 years and letting it out into the Pacific Ocean sometime next year! Let’s see if there is a new ‘Sushi’ dish from it all...
I have a slogan for it;
“How do you like them apples?”
I just make apple jack
I get a nice glow on every once in a while, and it doesn’t have anything to do with this stuff.
“Drink up son...it’ll put a lump on your adam’s apple!”
(snicker)
I heard that too, maybe over a year ago. They have probably already been releasing some of the tainted water.
That’s an awful lot to keep on storing with more being added all the time. I find it remarkable, close to miraculous that so few living organisms appear to be effected.
All one can judge by is the present.
If there was some secret Japanese owned island full of malformed people and animals (i.e. Dr. Moreau) sick due to radiation, it would be known by now.
it will be harmless. A slight uptick that will be detectable, but far, far below any dangerous levels.
IF ONLY they had more than 6 hours of reserve batteries. This would have been the greatest engineering success in history.
Also they needed to have instantaneous communication to the political power centers in such an emergency. “PLEASE BRING US MORE BATTERIES- TOP PRIORITY”
Interesting marketing ploy, I’ll give them that. Hmm...100 proof. Not great, not terrible...
No one in fukishima expected a 9.0 earthquake *AND* a 35 foot tsunami within 30 minutes of each other.
If they had more batteries they *WOULD HAVE* survived it.
The only thing missing from this tragedy of Titanic proportions was a few people boasting “God Himself could not shut down this plant”
“I get no kick from champagne “ 🎼🎶🎶🎵🎶
Well, due to a persistent glaring lack of soil microorganisms in the region, the apples would be nutrient deficient.
Vodka is better than nothing.
It seems to effect most the voters and elected officials, but not most of the police or business owners! What will ‘they’ think of next?
“I find it remarkable, close to miraculous that so few living organisms appear to be effected.”
I do also. But, here is the problem. Most of those organisms are not long lived.
Better to study the reactions of those humans downwind of that disaster.
Like they did here in the USA they cal Downwinders..those east of the nuclear tests site north of Las Vegas.
Of the crew that shot the movie staring John Wayne near St George UT, I read nearly all of them died of cancer.
Remember this? Dont eat the Snow, its got fallout in it!
When I was a kid in grade school, the teachers would tell us that every time we went out for recess in the winter.
