There is a grammar formula to find the correct word, but I’ve forgotten it.

All the air in the world is worthless to a diesel generator when the fuel tanks have been washed away. Which is the only reason there was no power after the batteries died: The diesels were fine, but the fuel was gone.
The tanks got washed away? I thought the problem was that the generators got drowned.
Either way, the designers obviously didn’t foresee a the possibility of a tsunami. Can’t for the life of me understand why.
