On average, grocery stores were receiving 98% of orders pre-covid and during 2020. In 2021 it started falling and is now at a low rate of 40% on some major goods. Given that magnesium supply just dried up, aluminum supply constraints will soon be here as well.
I’m in the grocery supply chain, 40% loads are common right now. But normalcy bias wins...until panic sets in. Just wait until Christmas rolls around. It will be full panic then.
The shelves at the local food market were out of my favorite Dihydrogen monoxide last week, but after I complained, a truck arrived and the shelves are full again. If your stores are out of anything, be proactive and whine to management. Always remember that in our soiboy world, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I keep telling people buy a little extra now across the board but it seems very few are listening at this point. When the panic sets in it will be a cascade effect.
