There's the problem. It's always throw more money at a problem, never figuring out how much is actually needed to solve a problem. America already has more weaponry, and more advanced weaponry, than the rest of the world, and in many specific cases, the rest of the world combined. Maybe we already have a means of defeating this threat and the government is keeping its cards close to its chest. Maybe all we have to do is say "hey China, attack Taiwan and we are canceling all of our debt that we owe you and seizing all assets held by Chinese nationals".
Not every military problem has to be solved by breaking out in contracts for aircraft carriers.

The order was a shrewd and timely response to a growing threat. Unfortunately, that Executive Order has now been suspended.
It went farther in development than I knew. Look it up. Now’s the time to take the other Star Wars ideas like the Iron Dome and David’s Sling and work on Space Rocks.
Some those hitting a hypersonic object would mess it up.
