It was shot after repeatedly approaching the Sierra Nevada campsite of a large family with many small children despite several attempts to haze it or shoo it away, the agency said.
The animal “was a shell of its former self, completely emaciated, its teeth rotten,” the wildlife agency statement said.
“As one CDFW biologist later said, ‘Ultimately, the actions of the shooter was the most humane outcome for this bear,’ ” the statement said.
Wildlife officers ruled the shooting was justified.

I thought that all of Lake Tahoe burned to the ground, at least according to LA news.

The animal “was a shell of its former self, completely emaciated, its teeth rotten,” the wildlife agency statement said. Meth is a hell of a drug.

The rotten teeth were not from meth. They were from his store ransacking days when he would grab Hostess cupcakes and various brands of cookies, gorge on them and then not brush his teeth afterwards, much loss floss! He deserved the rotten teeth!

I would imagine that the most devastating part of this story is that you can still have GUNZ in California.

Completely appropriate outcome, though in a weird way I feel for the animal; having arrived at a physical condition that led it to this. People should keep their stuff out of any possible access to these animals so they dont get accustomed to it.
