New York City’s war on drugs is over. The junkies won.
The New York Police Department waved the white flag last week — upon orders to surrender from Albany — directing officers to let drug addicts freely shoot up on city streets, and even let them share needles.
“Effective immediately, members of the service should not take any enforcement action against any individual who possesses a hypodermic needle, even when it contains residue of a controlled substance,” states a directive to NYPD commanders issued last Friday and obtained by The Post.
Senate Bill 2523, cited in the order to street cops, decriminalizes the possession or sale of hypodermic needles and syringes, commonly used by addicts to inject drugs such as heroin.

They’re trying to appeal to the important druggie voting demographic, which is of significant size in NYC and Albany.

Finally, the illegal drugs brought here by the ChiCom/Mexican/? drug cartels will eliminate many if not most of the surviving black teens/adult blacks via deadly drug OD’s.
Then, if the illegal drugs don’t kill them, they will kill each other like in Chicago on a 24/7 basis in their ongoing Drug Turf Wars!

As long as they direct emergency services and hospitals to do nothing as well, I’m ok with this.
My first thought was that the ‘rona didn’t seem to be getting these people, perhaps this will. But you’re right, you’ll have to keep the “first responders” from filling up the ICUs with them.
Do they let them die if they o.d?
God help me, if one of those addicts were my child, I know I’d be less heartless, but what else will end this plague but letting the addicts die or scaring them off with fear of death? Fear of law is done.

Its within the Realm of Believability that California may up the ante by forcing cops to ASSIST junkies shooting up in public.
The race to the bottom is on.

They second anyone assists a junkie, they become responsible for the junkie, and I’m willing to bet, be sued by the junkie.

The NYC acceptance of muggings, assaults of people on sidewalks and in subways, looting and now shooting up of hard drugs makes that era sound more and more modern.
What about the pushers? Have they eliminated the drug division in the PD?

More like no service to us due to staffing problems but the "poor" go to the head of the line.
Not sure is still true but they were going broke having to do "emergency" and "urgent care" to those who couldn't pay. May differ from state to state. Some started saying "no emergency" to get off the deficit spending merry go round.
Long ago a People Magazine story on hospitals facing financial crises due to overloads of non-insured and indigent patients including gang fight victims, showed one example. He was a trashy looking, smirking young "teen" pictured with many tubes and types of medical equipment helping him after hours of extensive emergency surgery from a gang war battle.
The list of medical procedures and special equipment used with staff help had figures for the amounts spent on him. I think it was many tens of thousands of dollars probably in 1985 or so. No cost to him but the hospital had to keep going and serving him free under the law.
Oregon has legalized the use of the drugs that make people homeless.
Washington law prevents police from persuing fugitives who may have just shot someone if they don’t see them on the scene when they arrive.

It has been reported that San Francisco authorities were putting “homeless” up in hotel and providing food and drugs.
There is no mystery here. Government official corruption is difficult if things are orderly and there exist a system of checks and balances.
With chaos and crisis normal checks and balances are often pushed aside and it is easier for corrupt public officials to skim public money.
