Brockton, Massachusetts — A woman who says she was burned by "scalding" hot coffee at a Brockton Dunkin' Donuts location is suing the local owner of the store and two employees there who allegedly mocked her injuries, CBS Boston reports.
Angela Barbosa filed the lawsuit in Plymouth Superior Court earlier this month.
She says she was in the passenger's seat of her sister's car in June of 2020 when they pulled up to the Dunkin' drive-thru at night and ordered three hot coffees.
She claims an employee handed her sister coffee cups that weren't placed firmly in the tray, and that the hot drinks weren't properly capped. They came loose and tipped over onto Barbosa, burning her legs and buttocks, according to the suit.
"Screaming in pain, the Plaintiff was forced to rip off her leggings in the parking lot, exposing herself in full view of the Dunkin' Donuts employees," the lawsuit states. "Seeing this, the employees were pointing, laughing, and mocking the plaintiff."

She would have never bought merely warm coffee. Her suit should be thrown out, just as all similar suits should have been thrown out but sadly we’re not.
Remember about 25 years ago the lady who sued McDonald’s for spilling coffee on her due to the lid not being fully attached? How many millions did she get. I think she was the first one who started this sue happy craziness against fast food joints.

It was. The coffee was much hotter than recommended and she had severe burns.

Actually, the lid WAS attached at the McDonald’s. The lid was removed to add creamer and sugar, and was wedged between the 79 year old woman’s legs. Their main complaint was that the coffee was too hot. The court reduced the jury award.

Fact: The jury awarded Stella $200,000 for her injuries, which the judge reduced to $160,000 because Stella was 20% at fault for her accident. The jury then also awarded $2.7 million in punitive damages against McDonald’s because they knew their coffee was dangerously hot and they served it like that anyway because it “tasted better.” The judge then reduced this award to $480,000. McDonald’s appealed and eventually the case settled for an undisclosed amount.

Btw, she only sued for her hospital bills to be paid. What posters think is the “truth” is what Mickey D’s got the press to tell them. And they bought it.

State your case so others can have knowledge. With out evidence you can not accuse someone of lying nor can you verify your knowledge to be true.

I can tell the truth until the cows come home and it won’t be accepted. The only way is to research for yourself.
They to counter sue her for publicly humiliating them by calling them Dunkin Donuts instead of their proper name of Dunkins. Let’s have as many stupid lawsuits as possible.
The worse the coffee the hotter they have to serve it so it really can’t be tasted.
