Been adding small items to preclude meal fatigue / add spice and flavor variety.
Dry stores and hard goods all set.
Fruit is the weak point.

Your comment is perfect. This is exactly how Biden thinks.

Outstanding analysis! I have worked in industrial logistics since the ‘70s and know of where you speak.
Thanks again.

To the extent that you can, try out local farmer’s markets and locker companies (slaughterhouses).
PING!

Go "hug" a farmer who grows grains, meat, or vegetables, and get on a regular, first name basis.
A good friend of a farmer will never go hungry or starve.
Buy winter squash, leave them exposed to sundlight and warmth for a week or two, and let the outer skin harden;
I have had butternut squash (high in vitamins,anti-occidents) last into mid-summer after they have been sun cured, and stored in a cool, dry, dark area.
For farmer friends who grow beef, pork, or poultry - make sure you have a good sized freezer, and have back up.
For farmer friends harvest grain, make sure you have a burr grinder or a mill.
It has to be a genuine friendship built around commerce, business, neighborliness,or mutual interests.

If it is still sitting around in 2 years I will
donate to a food bank and re-order.
It’s just an insurance policy I hope I never have to use.

“Biden should just issue an executive order directing that all empty store shelves be restocked. That should solve the problem.”
Cut off ALL Government Aid and issue every family a rice cooker and a 20# bag of rice, like Castro did in ‘Cuber.’
Except - he didn’t give them any rice...

Idaho has been taken over by re-located California Commies. Hence, your $5 EACH Idaho potato! ;)
During the height of the sham-demic, our Walmart had a lot of bare spots but our small, local grocery was fully stocked, as was the even SMALLER one I sometimes hit in a town with a population under 300.
I was in ALDI earlier this week, waiting for Beau at the dentist and people were REALLY stocking up on basics, which was why I was there, too! The only thing I forgot was coffee, but I have plenty on hand for now.
They weren’t putting limits on anything that I could see, but the stock-gals (College Town) were hopping, filling shelves as fast as they could. This was on a rainy Wednesday morning, about 10am and the place was quite busy.

As I recall, in 2020 there were potato farmers in Idaho literally giving them away! Made me wish I lived there, I love potatoes.
I’m glad I grew some this year. Hope to plant more next year.

The small meat-processor near me can’t process fast enough to keep up with local farmers. Anyone who wants an animal processed needs to reserve a spot more than 2 years in advance!
But, their shelves are consistently full, even when the grocery stores’ aren’t.

I have had butternut squash (high in vitamins,anti-occidents) last into mid-summer after they have been sun cured, and stored in a cool, dry, dark area.
And some squash last even longer. I still have about 2 dozen of last year's squash still in the basement, just stored in the shell in ventilated wooden bins.
Now is the best time to buy winter squash. Some growers are practically giving them away!
