You're right and Claiborne county is dense forested on the loess bluffs and very sparsely populated and is 85% black

Former heavy cotton plantation land and fought over big time in Grants lower Mississippi River campaigns

Back then land was cleared for white velvety boll covered rolling hills

Now it's kudzu and hardwoods and great deer and black bear country

Think Uncle Remus country

Charles Evers was a kingmaker in the adjacent southern county Jefferson

I knew Charlie ....we liked we had same proper name...my dad did construction
87% black

Alcorn college ....shares county borders ....my dad and grandpa did a lot of historical restoration there....I still have some of the old rawed iron

The famous iron stairs from Windsor ruins were moved there ....

sunken road near Rodney and deer camp, cannonball in church at Rodney from yankee gunboat when the channel ran about a mile closer to town, Windsor ruins stairs at alcorn chapel, Windsor ruins burned down by cigarette or cigar...a massive place that survived Grant and WTS cause she Gave medical care to Union wounded ...
