Being an Air Traffic Controller is considered to be one of the most stressful jobs on the planet, with one of the highest suicide rates to go with it. You cannot just “become” a controller either, it takes YEARS to train for it. Let me outline the process.
Step 1: You must have at least 2 years of college or 3 years of job experience to even apply for the job. Alot of military/Air Force/Navy also get in due to their experience. To be chosen is considered a very big deal. The great part is, if you have skill, you can get in, anyone can apply, even civilians.
Step 2: Hurry up and WAIT. After being accepted to apply for the job, you must take the “ATSA” exam aka Air Traffic Skills Assessment. This is a very difficult test that takes 4 hours to complete. It will test your mental capacity and ability to memorize numbers on the fly as well as spatial awareness to help read a radar. If you can pass this, you will WAIT a few more months to take a Physical exam, drug test, and background check for your security clearance.
Step 3: Congratulations! You have made it so far, now you get sent to live in Oklahoma City for 4 months to work at MMAC, aka Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, where you will spend every waking second of your day reading and memorizing technical manuals and doing radar exorcises with a small class, being trained by other retired controllers.
By this time, more than a year has gone by since you have applied.
Step 4: You passed the initial training, however, you will now be placed in a city that has an opening for a controller available, you DO NOT get to choose where you are sent, well the highest scoring people get to pick what city on the list they want, better hope you studied 24/7! After you are sent to a tower or center, you have to complete 3 YEARS of apprenticeship by shadowing another controller to earn your CPC license, aka Certified Professional Controller license. And then, congrats, you are a controller! It only took 4 years to do.
So if anyone thinks they can be replaced... It is impossible.
Another interesting note, a controller is legally unable to take any sort of mind altering substance. Even drinking a cap full of Nyquil will get you a mandatory 3 day leave from work until you fully sober up. Miss a day of work unannounced? They will send the sheriff to your house to collect you and bring your ass to work.
The fact that they are pushing these mystery injections on us is baffling, if controllers and pilots start dropping soon, the entire world economy will stop. Perhaps that is what they are aiming for...
