The same actor, Jeffrey Wright, played Felix Leiter for the run of Bond films starring Craig, the only time in the series that has occurred. Notwithstanding who has played him, the character of Felix is gone.

Thanks for the notes on “Dune”. I think I first read it some 40yrs ago. The ‘80s version was ok, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the new one.

As I said, great production and effects. Very strong cast - Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard..... Took some liberties from the book but nothing major. But kinda... ponderous. if you liked the book I think you’ll like it. IMHO it could have used a little injection of lightness or humor. And it just skipped over the role of the navigators in the hierarchy. Did a good job on the worms though....

It stops halfway through the first book and I think production has already started on the follow-up.

Liked it. Not as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall, but it does continue to actually develop Bond-—something as the writer points out Connery never did.

The movie did kind of fall apart with the villain’s motivations, but I could watch Craig as Bond all day. Don’t see how they ever replace him.

We don’t know, but given that chick’s performance in this one, she would utterly kill the 007 series. She was horrible.

I had seen Goldfinger when was replayed at a theater in the mid 70’s. I had to laugh when the crushed Lincoln Continental (they didn’t show the removal of the drive train, which is standard practice for car crushing. You were to be led to think that the entire car was crushed) was placed in the back of the Ford Falcon Ranchero, barely lowering the ride height of the rear end.

There were other laughable things, but that was the most memorable for me.

He’s dead. They killed James Bond with rockets at the end of the movie.

I think the Craig cycle is sort of like Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. A reboot of the series, with a new beginning and a final end. (Until the next reboot.

With Casino Royale we're supposed to ignore all the previous Bond films (despite the same M). And when the next Bond is cast, we're supposed to ignore everything that came before that.

I've only read two of the non-Flemming Bond books, but I hear that one of them "begins again" with Bond as a young SAS soldier in the 2000s.

That’s what you cared about...the way they crushed a car? Come on...News flash, Bond films are not documentaries.

LOL! I wondered about that too. As well as all the troops falling down dead in seconds from nerve gas without even a twitch. And not being able to detect the bomb until it was actually armed and the countdown started. And why do the villains always have to talk with Bond? As Eli Wallach 's character Tuco said in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, if you 're going to shoot, shoot.

IIRC the troops were told to fake being gassed, because Ms Galore had a change of heart and didn’t put the poison in the spray tanks. They wanted to catch the crooks in the act.

Then Goldfinger’s jet immediately goes into a nosedive because of the cabin depressurization?

But when it comes to pathetic, the movie ‘Duel, with Dennis Weaver unable to outrun a loaded semi, rates just as high on the dumbed down view scale.

True. But the business of making fantasyland movies is rather effective at dumbing down the viewer.

That kid they picked to play Paul Atreides looks an awful choice. Doesn’t look right for part.

Casino Royale was the best, the connection between Bond and the girl was the best developed of any of the movies. This movie wasn't so much, lots of action but nothing like the opening of Casino Royale. The end was disappointing, Bond is supposed to drift off with his woman in a raft or some other happy ending.

Saw it today. Yeah - a black female 007? no thanks. She had no personality. The little Latina was quite a firecracker - would like to see more of her.

I don’t mind Craig’s Bond development with his wife, or explaining some psyche of what made him him.

Other observations - Bond talked too much - monologues too long with the arch nemesis.

But ‘Sean Connery’s Bond is basically a rapist??? What a bunch of garbage - no force ever displayed or implied on any Bond screen of seduction.

I went home and told my son - “James Bond is dead! Tony Stark is dead! Superman is Bi and The Eternals are gay! This world is messed up!” /s

Never thought I’d be quoting Carville - and in a Bond thread, no less - but “They done gone stupid with this Woke garbage!”

I watched the latest Bond film last night and thought it just great. It was a interesting way to wrap up Craig’s run as James Bond and done in a manner I liked.

The five part Daniel Craig era overall was really good and while the purists will always allude to Connery as being the best I now disagree on that to a point.

I saw the first Bond film at 7 and have weathered the series over the last 60 years. There have been good and bad. I actually liked “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” and if Lazenby had not gotten bad advice and a little greedy he could have gone on for several more films.

Daniel Craig was not someone I was familiar with when he was chosen so I did not know what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The franchise had gotten stale and needed new direction and he brought it.

The films were more story and character driven, less gadgets, and they are great.

Craig brought a new dimension to the character and made him much less of a cartoon character that I think he had become. In the process Bond became a one woman man and I liked the direction that went in. First was Vesper Lynd and then his real love Madelaine Swann.

Now where does the series go? I think it has run it’s course there is no place left to go nothing really left to explore with Bond. My opinion is to end it at this juncture. It has had one of the greatest runs for a film Franchise ever. 60 years of movie making and great entertainment.

I just can’t imagine who they might choose and where they will go in the future.

So to Daniel Craig and his series and the Finale, which was superb.

Re: NO TIME TO DIE

I FINALLY watched it last night!

Wasn't so much "woke" as it was "overlong and boring, with a weak villain" There were PARTS of it I liked.. overall I'd rank it as the third best Daniel Craig Bond movie (ahead of dumpster fires Quantum of Solace and Spectre, below the solid entries Casino Royale & Skyfall)

Ironically, this was probably Craig's BEST performance as Bond, and he FINALLY gets to do "traditional" James Bond stuff for ONCE, like defeat bad guys with cool gadgets on his car, and order "Vodka Martini's, shaken, not stirred")

All the performances were quite good in this movie, actually...Ana de Armas is a great Bond girl, Jeffery Wright FINALLY has something fun to do with Felix Leiter, Rami Malek did his best playing a forgettable villain, etc. The only "woke" part was a "blink and you'll miss it" scene where Q turns out to be gay (cuz the real life actor is gay so he's just GOTTA be part of the alphabet community in the movie) Yes, some black woman replaces Bond as "007" briefly after he retires, but Bond gets his number back by the end of the film, and she won't be his successor, because they're rebooting and the screen says "JAMES BOND WILL RETURN" rather than "007 WILL RETURN". Miss Moneypenny and Felix were ALREADY race-swapped in previous films (both actors do a great job here), and Bond's boss M was ironically reverse gender-swapped in the last movie, back to the traditional straight, white male (I actually preferred the Judi Dench version, she was way edgier than Ralph Fiennes playing a discount store version of Robert Brown's M)

I maintain the same position I've realized over the past decade: Daniel Craig was miscast as James Bond back in 2005, but WHOEVER replaces him in THIS current Hollywood environment will probably be SO awful that we'll be BEGGING for Craig back!

Bond gets his number back by the end of the film, and she won't be his successor

That was never a thing, some simpletons who enjoy being offended pulled it out of thin air. He quit, his number was reassigned, that's all it was. From what I recall (I only saw this turd once) I actually liked the new 007 character. And as for race lifts, I maintain Idris Alba would be great in the role if he weren't already too old. And I agree with you on "M", it was cool it was a man again but he's boring so give me Dench.

I hated the last 2 movies. Give me "Quantum of Solace" any day.

The stupid nanobots, Bond committing suicide!, more BLOWfeld. *aggot Q (I don't like him regardless of his sexuality), boring villain. Only good thing was Ana de Armas.

Craig as Bond, would have been much better with better movies. "Casino" was good and it was all down hill from there."Quantum" I called a "quiet spy thriller" that didn't feel very Bond but wasn't a bad movie. "Skyfall" was only good in the same way Star Trek 4 was. The last 2 were partial-birth abortions. Moore could make some pretty campy crap still enjoyable to watch, Craig could not elevate this material.
