I’ve long thought it a pity that wisdom wasn’t mush more highly prized and that someone didn’t formulate a WQ to complement IQ.

A functional WQ scoring system would savage our so called best and brightest. The indoctrinated in particular would come off as lacking wisdom.

IQ was prized because it played and still plays to the egos of those who were easily educated no matter if they were fools or wise.

Those with material success have long tried to deflect envy by professing an ideology that is seen as compensating. All it takes is for it to be taught for a couple of generations and reinforced by close associates (see the Ash experiment) to cement a cover ideology.

Also, arguably, leftist positions have long been seen as advanced by the wealthy to keep potential challengers at bay. Those who have used their smarts to acquire wealth may well take that approach.
