I was a big fan of the original Conan the Barbarian comic series from the 70's and its companion black & white mag The Savage Sword of Conan. That was back when Roy Thomas was in charge of the mags and John Buscema was the primary illustrator. I didn't know Marvel had started a new series because I don't read any of the new woke comics (I still have my old ones and read them from time to time).

By and large, I could see a big difference in the quality of the stories written wholly by Howard, and those ‘beefed up’ by de Camp and Carter.
Here is a site that has only Howard’s original versions.

Bond does die at the end....

Bond is destroyed.

It’s pretty much a given that Bond has to die - it actually works out better for the continuation of the genre.
Bond (from Fleming’s books) had memories of being a motorcycle courier in WW2, and not much else in terms of family background (iirc) - his name may have even been false.
Which is a reasonable way to extend the franchise - Agent 007 is ALWAYS called ‘James Bond’. When a 007 goes down, a new one is assigned.
