Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve worked as a precinct judge in Texas before and I can tell you that all sorts of identification can be used - utility bills, employee IDs, etc. At each precinct, there is an envelope for provision ballots. YOU CANNOT DENY ANYONE WHO COMES TO THE POLLS THE ABILITY TO VOTE!!!
The provisional ballot is filled out and stored in the envelope. A judge is then called to decide on the validity of the vote, which is done on a case-by-case basis.
There are federal laws about this.
So whoever wrote this story is either grossly ignorant or a baldface liar. Either is believable with modern journalists.
Of course it’s a lie. The author of the original article is conflating the issues of getting a Federally mandated “RealID” drivers license with being able to register to vote.
It’s a lie. They know it’s a lie.
They don’t CARE.
