Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie’s sister told protesters outside her Lakewood Ranch home Monday that her family has been ignoring her following the disappearance of her brother and the death of his fiancée.
When asked if her parents were helping Brian Laundrie evade authorities, she said, "I don't know" and that she hadn't been able to speak with them.
"I'm in the boat where I'm getting ignored by my family and thrown under the bus by my family's attorney," Cassie Laundrie said to a group of protesters Monday in video shared by TikTok user @chroniclesofolivia.
The lawyer Laundrie seemed to be referencing, Steve Bertolino blamed the media. "I do not represent Cassie Laundrie," he told Fox News Digital in a text message Monday night. "Cassie’s comments can only be attributed to the press twisting my words and hers, which were only given to clarify prior mischaracterizations by the press, with the hopes of further sensationalizing this tragic story."

"We are just as upset, frustrated and heartbroken as everybody else," Cassie Laundrie and her husband told the crowd. "I am losing my parents and my brother and my children’s aunt and future sister-in-law on top of this."

I don’t think any reputable lawyer would advise his client to fle, even if there was no warrant.
> We don’t know what BL told his parents. Some parents will protect their offspring no matter the circumstances. And apparently some neighbors have told the protesters that they heard screams coming from the Laundries while Gabby lived there. If so, why didn’t they call the police? That nugget was brought up when his sister spoke with protesters.
I was trying to allow for whatever brian might have told his parents. up to a point, i think it’s reasonable for parents to protect their children. however, brian is 23 and legally an adult. all parents need to come to terms with the reality that their grown up children become adult and usually this happens around the time the kid reaches 18 to 21 yo.
imho trying to protect a kid over 21yo from the law seems to be an exercise in futility. you can dump a lot of money into a defense lawyer and even into cash to get a kid to mexico, but then what? sign up to support the kid indefinitely in mexico or bolivia or wherever? isn’t that like burning money, and for a cause that isn’t justified to begin with? isn’t murder one of the crimes with no statutes of limitation?
admittedly it is secondary, but still i am at a brick wall with the parents’ reactions.
if i were brian, my parents would have given me the boot at the first whiff that i had no reasonable explanation for events. or at least i would like to think so. they might have hired a defense lawyer for me, but only for a few hours worth of consultation, ideally with them present as a precondition to paying. the client can waive attorney client privilege (or to my understanding at least, extend it to his family members as interested third parties) (fd, i am not a lawyer).

geez whiz, brian continues to get more difficult to defend, and now even his parents... aarrgghh
Yes, the Merry Piglets restaurant incident on Aug. 27 (last day Gabby was seen alive). BL was described by witnesses as aggressive, repeatedly arguing with staff at the table, leaving, then returning inside multiple times to argue more with the hostess. Distraught Gabby came back inside once and apologized to the staff.
Thank you for your reconsideration based on additional information.

I’ve been struggling to keep that set of reports compartmentalized in order to preserve some logical brian defense to work with. aarrgghh.
If I were in the parents shoes I wouldn’t be saying anything at all to the press, not even a word. And I’d likely get my son out of dodge if it looked even a little like the press was writing their story of events.
In todays world it’s very difficult to find justice....even when you’re innocent. Lawyers no longer want the truth they want the win no matter who they leave in the gutter while they do it. And God help you if you’re money runs out....they’ll drop you like a box of rocks.

Hey, i must be guilty of skimming too much. i’ve got some other irons in a couple of different fires these days and i was mainly counting on principle. i’m all for principle but there is a point beyond which i have to back off and let the professional defense lawyers do their “work.”
Thanks for your patience with me.
Well ....obvious here she is talking to the press which is exactly why the parents aren’t sharing with them. Sour grapes by her outbursts....also childish.
Cassie and her husband both appeared surprised and dismayed when told about the neighbors' assertions of screams coming from the Laundrie North Port residence.
You forgot she has OCD, as she admitted on the video...and often has outbursts.
Again, thank you for your reconsideration.
Yes, there are miscarriages of justice, but a life on the run doesn't prevent or mitigate that. Likely, it does the opposite.
Many people don't agree with obstructing an investigation, or aiding and abetting fugitives, even when they are family members.
Consciousness of guilt is supported by fleeing to evade capture, disguising appearance, etc.
Sour grapes by whose outbursts? Are you referring to Cassie, who by all descriptions thought very highly of the dead woman Gabby? Cassie, the married mother of two young children, who has been in a prior abusive relationship?
> If I were in the parents shoes I wouldn’t be saying anything at all to the press, not even a word.
Yes, that too.
Still, the impression i am getting from the totality of brian’s ability to hide and perhaps travel under the radar is that he is getting help, most likely from his parents, including substantial financial help. i believe several people have claimed this in prior discussions.
the fact that brian’s sister came out and talked with protesters implies at least to me that she probably either never substantially helped brian or if she did, it was only to a relatively small degree, and now she has stopped helping him. i believe a couple of people on FR implied that the sister might have been helping brian.
It’s probably a bit macabre of me but i continue to be fascinated by the logistics of living and traveling under the radar and also the issue of help from the parents in the face of mounting evidence not in brian’s favor. i concede this is not new territory at all for many commenters here at at this point i have nothing new of significance to add, either in facts or analysis.
i’ll probably continue to puzzle over the parents’ rationale. maybe if i get enough time i could find a toehold or something. i try to take both sides at once, but right now gabby’s side is figuratively screaming in my ears.
It’s a girlfriends dead body and a boyfriend suspect missing. Both were in a highly toxic and physically battering relationship by both parties. That’s really all that’s known.
Could have been an accident since she liked hanging off the edge of canyon rocks to post in her videos.....so Who knows at this point.
Let me explain this to you, Gabby has NEVER been diagnosed with OCD. An abuser will often convince his victim that they are the problem, they have an "illness" that triggers the abuser. So the victim is often VERY apologetic, taking blame for everything that happens to them. You'll note that she told the police in Moab that it was all HER fault, Her fault that he took her keys, cellphone, refused to let her in the van and that he grabbed her by her face. The Laundries neighbors have said they heard screaming from the Laundries house and it wasn't Brian.
Get the picture?
ON FLAT GROUND?!. The excuses people make amaze me.

yes (although the body location itself is on flat terrain according to google maps, which by itself is somewhat of a quibble)
and the probabilities and patterns at this point seem not to be in brian’s favor. that is certainly not a definitive indication of guilt by itself. it just makes taking his defense case that much more difficult imho.
if brian is in fact innocent, then ideally there would be a hidden explanation or a pattern of innocent behavior hidden in plain sight somewhere.
