It ain’t massive. Millions of gallons of oil naturally leak every year in the Santa Barbara channel 100 miles up the coast. You see oil leaking out of the cliff face and the beach has oil globs all over. This small spill is 3 tankers full. The sun and various organisms will clean up the oil in short order.
A spill that size is not "massive" - in typical 'fake news' fashion, they report the volume in gallons to make it seem bigger than it is. The standard volume measurement for the oil industry is barrels; if you convert the 126,000 gallons reported back to barrels, you can see that the original estimate for the size of the spill was exactly 3,000 barrels (apparently, that number wasn't sufficiently "massive" for the fake newsers).
The Macondo spill was "massive"; this thing is an unfortunate accident, that would be exceeded in size by a half dozen railroad tank cars running off the tracks and landing in a creek somewhere...
Sabotage by some leftist?
Yep, this one is small. IIRC, the Deepwater Horizon spill was a 10-million-barrel gusher.
More than half of it has already dispersed into the air, flashes off like gasoline, especially when it’s spread out thin like on the surface of water. We’re looking at less than 3,000 barrels originally.
A bit of Tar is natural on Central Coast beaches. Native Americans used it to make their canoes seaworthy.
Yep, I noticed that. Gallons? Must not be very big...
And how many thousands of barrels of oil are spilled all over hell and half acre every year by train wrecks? I’ve never counted, but I seem to see around 4 or 5 train wrecks every year, with reports of oil spilled.
This is only maybe the 3rd or 4th pipeline spill I’ve noticed in 10 years or more.
A great deal of oil seeps up through the bottom of the ocean and floats up to the surface. It is naturally occurring.
Not massive? My God Pete, its 504,000 quarts! Think of how many oil changes this represents! Oh, the huge manatee!!!
Ok if you just gotta get technical, that’ also 2,016,000 cups...if you wanna get into ounces we’re getting close to the deepwater spill a few years back that stompy feet bungled...
Oh noes!! this is hugh...and series...
