You're more likely to over-penetrate with 00 buck or slugs than a smaller grain 223 round.
Stick to guitars, Josh. .223 is smaller than 00 buck. But it has a lot more velocity and therefore energy behind it than the buckshot does. And rifle rounds are optimized for ballistic efficiency. They’re pointed in the front and have boat-tail bases. They are also usually copper jacketed as well. 00 buckshot isn’t. If you see overpenetration it’s going to be the rifle round.

Not gonna use slugs or even 00 buckshot inside. At close range, #4 buckshot is going to be plenty devastating.
