Morning All! It was pawpaw harvest this week. Two pics. Beats what I got last year - only 4 pawpaws. I have read up more about pruning this year and found about 9 new tree shoots coming up from behind the trees I have. Also next year I will find some horse manure to put at the base of my trees to draw flies, as that is what pollinates. I had over 80 flowers and hand pollinated what I could reach. Froze some pulp (will keep for a year) and enjoyed the rest atop some good vanilla ice cream. Yummy!
The garlic seeds that dropped after harvest are already almost a foot tall. I have cloves to plant and got 2 bags of cypress mulch. Kind of taking the weekend off.
Still getting broccoli, chinese long beans (still bearing and flowering), raspberries, basil, parsley and have not tipped my big potato tub yet. Dug a few small ones for some soup last week. The tops are still green. It's been a great garden year with some really nice surprises. Next year will be even better. Also started new radishes and romaine lettuce in one of those long planters, already up, will probably keep it in there are it is very near the house.

Warning here's a slide - Diana here's how the new bedroom floor turned out we love it, it's that Teragren Synergy bamboo. We have it in 2 other rooms from 12 years ago and it looks just as new as this.

Also finished up a capicola and started another one. Takes at least 7 weeks. Enjoying it immensely with some homemade cheese and dried tomatoes.

And last but not least this is my second batch of italian sausage from a pork shoulder got 21 the first time and 26 this time. Natural casings. I am still on low carb high protein and doing really well on it.

Love those paw-paws! My dad spoke highly of them - they don’t grow where I live but I can grow cherimoya which is a paw paw relative. We had several trees at my workplace and harvested those every year - they were SO good.
I will plant a tree this year - wish I’d done it years ago.

You have been BUSY! LOVE The new flooring and all of your meat-related projects. I made 144 meatballs to freeze the other day, and picked up the 1/4 beef from the meat locker. We are set for a while and will probably push Weber’s visit to ‘The Spa’ until next Spring when we’ve got the freezers emptied out some.
Hurray for Pawpaws! You’re getting to be our Pawpaw Expert! :)

I know next to nothing about pawpaws. What do they taste like? Any similarities to other fruits?

Do you know the song “Way Down Yonder in the Paw Paw Patch”? Sounds like your hard work turned out for you!
