Serial numbers are racist. And homophobic. And Mooselimbphobic.
With uncopiable bits similar to those on money that can be scanned for authenticity.
But serial numbers also mean that they can track how people vote...all they have to do is link serial number to who the ballot was sent to.
We had that where I worked decades ago. It was an ‘anonymous’ survey sent individually to us via company mail...but with serial numbers. Needless to say I told them they were a ‘fine company’ and I loved my job. Wasn’t quite true either way, but I wasn’t going to give them a reason to get rid of me.
Serial numbers using a specialized ink.
Totally unnecessary.
Just make people show their ID when they vote in person at their ONE voting location, check it against voter registration, make sure they haven’t voted already, and witness them going into the booth on Election Day.
Well, the ideas will fall on the deaf ears of Republicans who fell for the vote counting. Even in small town America, vote counting continues till done. The Republican poll watchers and counters wanted to be fooled, depending on how badly they wanted Trump gone.
How about CHEATERS should be in jail?
carbon copies...
one for them to count...
one for the voter to retain for future reference if needed...
Ballots don’t need serial numbers. Put serial numbers on ballots and continue to NOT prosecute decades long, laughably obvious election fraud felons and they will just rewrite the serial numbers with pens, whatever it takes. It’s real simple, enforce the same election laws that worked great up until 30 years ago (except dem Chicago, rural Texas, etc.). An honest governor and AG in Georgia, raiding a corrupt democrat vote counting/manufacturing precinct in Atlanta and indicting 25 dem electioneer felons would be a start. But then again, maybe God could miracle us honest elections in this country again.
I like AZ Rep Finchem’s idea about putting an embedded watermark visible only with UV light. Kinda like money so it would be really hard to duplicate. Cost would be $.25 per ballot.
If all 50 states went with the serial numbers and watermarks most of the fraud can be wiped out if the ballots are available for inspection by bonded representatives from any party or citizens group. A spot check of 1000 sample ballots picked out at random would be a good start and would not take long.
Yeah, I’m also of the opinion that — while it sounds good on its face — that anonymous ballots are a huge problem. It permits a fraudulent vote to remain in the system. Sure, you can prove it was fraudulent, but you cannot remove it, since you cannot be sure which person was fraudulently voted for.
Cut the bullshit. If you want to vote show up at the polls as a registered voter in possession of a valid photo-ID. If you can’t be bothered to get a recognized photo-ID, too bad. Not having valid photo-ID is not not racist, just lazy. The right to vote should require some effort.
Serial Numbers are a huge mistake, they would make the ballot traceable....OH MY !( sarc.)
Ballots don’t need serial numbers.
Voters need ink-stained fingers.
Better than serial numbers. They should be recorded on Blockchain. That would be something everybody could see and the data would be preserved for all time.
How many ballots went out?
Who returned a ballot?
Were only validly recorded ballots counted?
Were only valid voters sent ballots?
That would end a lot of the cheating right there.
Democrats want to know about your assets, cash transactions, your vaccination status, your ability to defend yourself, etc.
But your own verifiable, traceable ballot?
Naah.
I wish people would stop with the computers/internet/high-tech so-called “solutions” to election fraud.
We know you’re smart, and we know you mean well, but the more you remove the process from the understanding of ordinary people, the more you *increase* the likelihood of fraud.
We have serial numbers here in Raleigh. Before they give you your ballot, they stop and white a code from a computer by hand in a space at the top of the ballot. I asked the poll workers about this, and they were very evasive about it. Another guy I talked to who was a volunteer poll worker in another county told me that yes, they could use this to go in and find your actual ballot. He claims it is anti-fraud.
Ballots are traceable. People want to believe that the ballots are tge problem. In 2020 after 230 years is elections we need to figure out how to do an election
It’s about republican legislators allowing cheating. That’s all. They are tasked with keeping Trump out of office. With keeping tge eeican people away from having a seat at the table.
In the ‘80s when I was doing ballot design, they were IBM punch cards, and each had a unique number. A “batch” would be provided to a precinct, with the numerical series clearly logged.
