Hanging up the Assless Chaps.
I had no idea he was even still alive. Last time I saw him was when I took a co-worker to see Poison back in ‘89. DLR was the opening act. Drunk, cussing at audience, slurring/forgetting words... finally got booed off the stage.
Van Halen was the soundtrack to my youth. Happy Trails and Bon Voyage, Dave. It was both “Magic and Love”.
The guy was a frontman supreme.
Very well remember blasting their 8-track version of, ‘Girl you really got me’.
Roth had one of those voices you just couldn’t connect to any face until you saw him. I saw them live after only two albums out at a 2000 seat venue in Boston from the front row, balcony probably a hundred feet from the stage. What a show.
What does “stay frosty” mean, anyone know? Lol.
Not a great singer but a fantastic showman. His “California Girls” video remains one of the greatest ever.
Bought their first album in late 70s. Saw VH at the 1978 Texxas Jam. They were early performers since still new. Headliners were Heart then Nugent followed by Aerosmith. Last act was Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.
His fans left him decades ago.
Good looking when young (even with the wig), great singer, total weirdo whack-job as a person…
There’s a reason Eddie dumped him — twice.
