A significant upwelling into the caldera. Hard to determine scale, but the new level is up many many feet.

The Hawaiian ones are too busy protesting the ten meter telescope, due to Pele’ or some other savage crap.

All the real action happens when that lake drains.

Guess what is downwind? The place that measures global CO2.

When I first moved to the big island in 2000, you could get really close to what is now “the lake” in Halemaumau. In 2018 that area was destroyed and I doubt that the public will get that good of access ever again.
Funny that in the area where housing was destroyed in the 2018 eruption, people are clamoring to rebuild.
People aren’t too bright.
I live in a “safe” volcano area, but know that my access to the outside world could be severely limited at any time.

No. I’m northern Hamakua. Close to Waipio valley.

Waipi’o Valley is beautiful. I’m not sure if the walk down or up is worse...
The single longest span of distribution electrical conductor I have ever seen is there. A good bit higher than the lookout to the valley floor.
The horses are cool as well...

The Hawaii I live in is way different from everyone thinks Hawaii is. Hopefully we can keep it that way.

I think you’ll be fine where you are.
