Some of these jams are inspiring, and some of this is just good old fashioned rehearsing.
If Jimi had continued in this direction, he'd have likely opened up a whole new dimension of music.
We'll never know. RIP Jimi.
Black and white people hanging together, high as hell, playing with weapons…good stuff.
I have a feeling he may have gone down the Jazz Fusion route, he jammed with McLaughlin a few times.
...Black and white people hanging together...”

With the black lady pointing a shotgun at the white people?
All Along The Watch Tower...Hey Joe...Stone Free...his best.
The more things change, the more they stay the same?…
I think the white woman is further in the background than where the black chick is pointing. That said, they are probably drunk and high…
The box set of the live at winterland shows are all pretty tremendous. I think they were all in october of 68. A killer live act.

If that’s the one with the live version of Are You Experienced? where Jimi repeats the second verse twice, you are absolutely right.
I love Rock and Roll but I never was much of a fan of Jimi Hendrix. I felt he was overrated because of his race and that he died so young. His stuff was just OK in my book.
I doubt she's shooting live rounds...they have no ear protection and while they are probably partying, no amount of chemical refreshment will stop you from jumping when a shotgun goes off.
It is still a great picture.
“Not my scene man.” His opinion of the US. So he goes to England, birthplace of racism.
One of the most talented artists ever to grace the musical sphere. He was pure genius.
He was also highly prolific. His close circle said for every one song he recorded, there were 40 others waiting in the wings and they were amazing. That all died with him.
Too bad he lived in a time when illicit harmful drugs ravaged the entertainment industry.
RIP Jimi.
I happen to agree.

“he’d have likely opened up a whole new dimension of music. “
He already did that on Electric Ladyland.
And followed up with virtuoso performances on Band of Gypsies.
1983 a Merman I Should turn to Be is as good as any rock/pop/psych composition in existence.
Yeah ‘are you experienced’ is on there, not sure about the verses. I was always partial to the intro to the version of ‘hey joe’ he does there as well. I think Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter took a lot of inspiration from that for their intro into ‘sweet jane’ from Rock n Roll Animal.

Never got the ‘draw’ of Hendrix or Joplin for that matter. Yeah, both were talented but I don’t get the groupie mentality.
Red House.
Do you know how he got out of the Army early? He claimed he was a homosexual, to which the Army agreed and discharged him.
