Many of today's Freepers have neither the wit or maturity of Freepers from years past. They can barely comment intelligently on anything and think they're being funny or smart by throwing out snarky and cynical comments about everything. It's become more like a junior high school than a Conservative forum. And don't get me started on the infestation of Despair Trolls and doom-and-gloomers. There is reason for cynicism today, but it it isn't an answer for anything and serves no purpose except to demoralize.

I agree entirely with your remarks. I don’t think we need to be Pollyannas and just burble along ignorantly, but these predictable, tritely cynical remarks get us nowhere and do nothing to advance our positions. They just discourage people, turn them off and make conservatism look bitter and hopeless.
Trump could occasionally go on a rant. But I think that what people liked about him most was that he was positive, he had enthusiasm, and he didn’t shoot himself down before he even got started, which is essentially what negativity does.
